R125/R134a/I…R-422D is an HFC refrigerant blend (R-125/R-134a/R-600a at 65.1/31.5/3.4%) designed as a drop-in retrofit replacement for R-22 in air conditioning systems. The isobutane (R-600a) content provides mineral oil compatibility, potentially eliminating lubricant changes during conversion. R-422D offers similar capacity to R-22 and has been widely adopted for residential and light commercial AC retrofit. With a GWP of 2,729, R-422D faces regulatory phase-down pressure. The zeotropic blend has significant temperature glide, requiring liquid charging to maintain proper composition. R-422D remains a popular choice where simple R-22 retrofit is needed without major system modifications.
