    R-417A

    R125/R134a/B…

R-417A is an HFC refrigerant blend (R-125/R-134a/R-600 at 46.6/50/3.4%) developed as a drop-in replacement for R-22 in air conditioning applications. The small butane (R-600) content provides oil miscibility with mineral oils, potentially eliminating the need for oil change during retrofit. R-417A operates at slightly lower capacity and efficiency compared to R-22, often requiring system adjustments. With a GWP of 2,346, R-417A is subject to phase-down regulations. The blend has found use in retrofit applications where minimizing system modifications is the priority, though R-407C and R-422D are often preferred alternatives with better performance match.
