R-448A
R32/R125/R13…R-448A (Solstice N40) is an HFO/HFC refrigerant blend designed as a lower-GWP replacement for R-404A and R-507A in commercial refrigeration applications. With a GWP of 1,387—approximately 65% lower than R-404A—R-448A offers significant environmental improvement while maintaining A1 safety classification. The blend contains HFO-1234yf and HFO-1234ze(E) along with R-32, R-125, and R-134a, providing the low-GWP benefits of HFO technology. R-448A is suitable for medium and low-temperature refrigeration in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage. The blend is compatible with POE lubricants and can be used in new equipment or as a retrofit with appropriate system modifications.
