Typically, gas detection systems are installed indoors, however, certain applications such as chiller rooms with an exterior door require the display of the gas level readings, along with an audible and visual device mounted outside the door to the room. This allows the incoming people to view the air quality conditions inside prior to entering to ensure the environment is safe. Another similar application is detached chemical storage buildings. Being mounted outside in the hot sun, rain and snow year round, the remote display and audible/visual alarm devices may take a beating if not protected. Also, with the sun beating down, the glare on the display can make it difficult to read.
In response to this challenge, we designed the Sun Shade. The Sun Shade provides shade and reduces glare on any CETCI gas detection system device. It may also be used as a rain and snow shield or provide additional protection in applications where there is a lot of dust, dirt of debris that falls and settles on surfaces. The Sun Shade is made of black carbon fibre reinforced nylon. We know it can withstand a beating because we have thrown it down a flight of stairs and dropped it several times from a two story window onto the concrete below! The Sun Shade should be mounted to the wall over top of the device. Once installed, the shield can be pivoted to the preferred angle and adjusted whenever needed.
While intended for use with gas detection devices, the Sun Shade can be used to protect other instruments such as exterior cameras.
