CETCI’s New 3D Printed Calibration Clip Leaves Both Your Hands Free!


At Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc, (CETCI), we strive to be innovative, cutting edge and creative in our endeavors to fulfill our customers’ needs. Our latest testament to this is our newly designed calibration clip (or ‘Cal Clip’ as it is called for short). It has been an exciting few months as we have gone through different designs, prototypes, various types of plastics and calibration testing.

Remember the last time you calibrated one of our gas detectors that had a splash guard? The blue or orange calibration adapter cup that you had to hold with one hand over the splash guard while trying to open the gas cylinder with the other, flow gas and keep the cup snug up against the device? And depending on the location of the detector, acrobatics may have been involved, right? Well, those days are gone!

Our engineers have designed a device that easily clips around the splash guard and remains in place by itself, freeing up BOTH your hands to do what they need to do. Perhaps even give a high five to a coworker!

The Cal Clip is made of light, durable ABS/polycarbonate plastic and comes in our signature blue company colour. It is specially designed to allow calibration gas into the sensor vent through a small barb hose fitting attached to standard or Teflon tubing. The barb hose fitting can accommodate two sizes of hose: 1/8” (3.175 mm) ID and 3/16” (4.762 mm) ID. While stored, the tubing can be left attached or removed from the Cal Clip as desired.

The Cal Clip fits around the circular, black splash guard that is factory installed at the time of order on any of our black enclosure gas detectors or self-contained controllers. With the hose barb fitting at the bottom, pointing towards you, simply place the inside edge of the Cal Clip next to the outer edge of the splash guard and gently flex open the top of the other side outwards until it slips and clips around the entire splash guard. To remove, gently open the clip at the top while pulling one of the hooked ends towards yourself and it will slip off. If you pull the device apart too aggressively, overstretching it, the circular formation of the Cal Clip may be compromised. Evidence of this results in whitish bars appearing on the blue plastic (like stretchmarks).

NOTE: Because the Cal Clip is designed to prevent entry or exit of air except via the hose barb fitting, it must be removed from the splash guard during normal operation or else the gas readings will not be accurate.

Vandalism, Theft & Damage


Protect your transmitters with CETCI’s metal protective guard.

Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. (CETCI) manufactured a heavy duty metal protective guard to help protect against abrasive damage, theft and vandalism to the transmitters. This is an added preventative in addition to the product enclosure.

The metal protective guard is made from 16-guage galvanized steel and has ½” square openings in the front to allow gas and air to flow through to the sensor. With only four slotted mounting holes, installation and removal for gas detector servicing is easy. Larger metal protective guards are also available upon request.

CETCI Appoints Mirza Baig as Western Regional Sales Manager for North America


Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. (CETCI), a leading global supplier of gas detection systems, including self-contained systems, controllers and transmitters, and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) portable instruments, announced the appointment of Mr. Mirza Baig as the new Western Regional Sales Manager for North America.

Seven years ago, Baig started off as a Service Technician for CETCI. After two years, he moved onto becoming the IAQ Portable Product Specialist. Two years after that he was promoted to Sales Manager for Southeast Asia for all CETCI products. Now as Western Regional Sales Manager for North America, he will be responsible for sales of IAQ handheld portables and gas detection systems. With seven years of experience, Mirza will work closely with distribution partners in Western Canada and Western USA in their efforts to win, support, and maintain high quality installation contracts.

Exposing Indoor Air Quality with YESDUST Particulate Sensor


Delta, B.C. – Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. (CETCI) recently introduced YESDUST. This particulate sensor is designed to be used in conjunction with the multi-sensor indoor air quality (IAQ) monitors developed by CETCI, such as the YESAIR.

YESDUST is a low-cost, hand-held, battery powered device. It contains a self-aspired, optical sensor that utilizes convection (heated air) to move the air through the sensing region of the sensor. The measured readings are shown on the LCD display and data logged to the internal flash card of the IAQ monitors. The device operates from its own internal rechargeable nickel hydride batteries, providing approximately five hours of run time, or a supplied wall adapter, providing continuous operation.

The YESDUST is ideal for IAQ applications containing dust, particulates, cigarette smoke, pollen, fibers, etc. Every YES product is designed to deliver years of reliable operation and is easy to operate.

CETCI Introduces a Low Cost Portable Solution


Delta, B.C. – Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. will introduce YESAIR Junior at this year’s American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo in Denver, Colorado.

YESAIR Junior is a new low cost, light weight hand held device. It contains three key sensors that are aimed to simultaneously measure and record temperature, relative humidity, and carbon dioxide levels in the air. The LCD display indicates all three sensors and measured values for each as well as battery status. This essential device collects up to 22,000 data points and stores it in the internal flash memory. Users have the option of extracting the data through a USB port for analysis with our optional YES Viewer pc software. The device utilizes alkaline batteries, providing more than twenty hours of run time, or a supplied wall adapter, providing continuous operation.

The new YESAIR Junior is ideal for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) applications and will be available in early fall 2010. Every YES product is designed to deliver years of reliable operation and is easy to operate.

CETCI Introduces New Fifteen Channel IAQ Monitor


The New Standard for Multi-Sensor IAQ & Landfill Surface Gas Emissions
Delta, B.C. – Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. (CETCI) will launch their new and improved YES Plus LGA at this year’s American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Expo in Denver, Colorado.
YES Plus LGA has enhanced, easy to use features that will replace the current YES Plus monitor. This single-solution system is a multi-gas air quality monitoring and information recording instrument that simultaneously measures and records temperature, relative humidity, carbon dioxide, and much more.
Featuring a fifteen sensor capacity, the YES Plus LGA allows users to accurately monitor more within a single, easy to carry instrument. It contains twelve internal plug & play sensors, a fixed temperature sensor, a removable relative humidity (RH) sensor, and a remote sensor, such as particulates. Sensors available include electrochemical, catalytic (combustibles % LEL or % volume), infrared (PPM or % volume CO2 or combustibles), and PID. An air sample from the target environment is delivered to the sensors through “active sampling” by the internal sample draw pump. More than a million data points can be logged and stored in a built-in SD flash card for convenience.
The large, backlit, multi-line scrolling LCD display indicates the sensor types installed and measured values for each gas, battery status and more. The system utilizes a long life rechargeable NiMH battery pack providing more than twenty hours of run time, depending on sensor array installed. The user can also set one alarm level for each gas to activate the internal audible alarm. The system is housed in a rugged ABS enclosure with swivel handle to act as a stand support or for carrying the instrument.
The Landfill Gas Analyzer (LGA) version has an optional plug-in GPS and Bluetooth module and a firmware version that’s suitable for landfill surveys to communicate to pocket PDAs. The internal sample pump has an automatic flow control that ensures 1-LPM flow rate even with resistance. This version will be available in the fall of 2010.
